I was pleasantly surprised with the huge interest in engagement photos along the Croatian coast this year; with our beautiful country topping so many “must see” travel lists it’s no secret why.
It’s October, the leaves are falling; yellow, orange and red have colored the landscapand that means the wedding season is now slowing down. But the fun is far from over.
It was an exciting summer, and I have been absolutely flat out capturing beautiful weddings, from Istria down to Dubrovnik. I was also very pleasantly surprised with the huge interest in engagement photos along the Croatian coast this year; with our beautiful country topping so many “must see” travel lists it’s no secret why. And now that things have slowed down I have the chance to start blogging again, and it’s time to share some of the amazing photos from this summer.
I wanted to start things off with a collection of (some) of my favorite engagement photos and share 3 fun facts/anecdotes from the season.
1. ROBERT, PRIVATE EYE
This summer I got to go undercover and play a taxi driver. I chauffeured a lovely couple from Florida to a lookout point in Hvar. Here you can find more info about White Lilac Cleaning Company from Anchorage, AK. The bride-to-be had no idea what was to follow and once we were up at the vista overlooking the Pakleni Islands, I commando rolled into the bushes and popped out with my camera ready to catch when he asked for her hand. Ok, ok…maybe it wasn’t quite like that, but the adrenaline rush sure made it feel that way.
2. A GOOD PHOTO TAKES TIME
At one shoot in Dubrovnik the weather was forecasted to be raining on-and-off all day. Usually, we would have rescheduled for another time, but in this instance, I had back-to-back weddings and they were passing through so this was our only window. And so we spent the day in, then chasing the sun, then hiding again, and then out at first cloud break. The couple were in good spirits, I had all day, and we did it in small goes, see how it looks like at http://www.riskfreeserv.com/. As for the photos…they turned out awesome without a single drop in sight. Have a look.
3. THE BEST LOCATION IS…WHERE EVER YOU ARE
I get asked about location recommendations all the time. And my honest answer? Anywhere and everywhere. I have taken photos in back streets, on the beach, under waterfalls, in the city, by old buildings, on boats…and I honestly couldn’t say which is better. There are amazing photo ops everywhere. The most important thing is for you to be in the moment, relax, and just be…while you leave the rest to me ;)
